MR25 Marathon Relay takes running enthusiasts to Singapore's first reservoir and nature reserve for a cross-country run. MR25 Marathon Relay uses a team relay format of 6 - 8 runners per team, whereby each runner takes turns to carry a baton over a 3.1km course 14 times (equivalent to the marathon distance). The event is open to 15 different age groups and genders combination. You will find something that suits your team. See you there!
Course Map
Race Format and Rules
- Team member shall take turns to carry a baton over a 3.1km course* fourteen (14) times, equivalent to the marathon distance. (*Refer to course map.)
- Baton must be held on hand at all times.
- Baton exchange must be completed within the designated exchange zone.
- Teams will be ranked according to the time taken for the baton to travel 14 laps around the 3.1km course. Position of baton is decisive, and not any part of the runner’s body.
- Results are scored based on gun time, not net time.
- If the baton is dropped, it must be picked up by the athlete who dropped it, not by another athlete in the same team.
- No throwing of baton is allowed.
- Top 3 teams of each category will be awarded prizes, provided there are more than 8 teams in the category. Otherwise, only the top team will be awarded.
- Flag off time is at 7:30am; Cutoff time is at 1pm; teams will be obliged to resign from the race if they have yet to start the final lap.
- Runner is responsible for staying on the route and adhere to the designated direction of run. Failure to follow specified route and use of shortcuts may lead to disqualification.
Team Rules
- Each team must consist of a minimum of 6 members and maximum of 8 members. (No reserves)
- Mixed team must consist a minimum of 3 athletes of opposite gender.
- Age of runners is determined by 2019 minus their year of birth.
- Team category is determined by the sum of the age of all team members.
- All participants must be at least 10 years old.
- Teams fielding unregistered member/s may be disqualified and not allowed to continue the race.
- No change of team category will be allowed after the registration deadline.
- Team member may join more than one team but can only carry one baton at any time.
General Rules
- Any category with less than 8 teams may be merged with another category of the same gender, without prior notice.
- Every runner is responsible to fully understand and know the Race Rules.
- For the safety of all runners, runners are to keep left unless overtaking.
- No trekking poles or sticks are allowed.
- No pacers and/or any assistance from your team or others, other than officials, during the progress of the race.
- No smoking or drinking alcoholic beverages at the race site.
- Food and drinks must be kept out of sight such that animals aren’t attracted to the race site.
- No feeding of animals.
- Participants and supporters shall conduct themselves in an orderly and civic manner.
- Participants are not allowed to occupy any part of the zig-zag bridge.
- Littering throughout the course is strictly prohibited.
- All team members must obey any instructions from the officials regarding observation of safety rules.
- Disputes/Protests regarding results, breach of rules or route, or complaints on unsporting behaviour or acts of other competitors must be declared by 12:30pm
- In the event of inclement weather, the organising committee will make the decision to postpone to a later time or cancel the event. The organiser’s decision shall be final. Payment is due to our organiser in case of cancellation of event, due to inclement weather.
- It is the responsibility of the team managers to ensure their runners are well hydrated before, during and after the race.
- Officials reserve the rights to stop competitors momentarily or from competing further, should they detect signs of danger, heat injuries or indications that the competitor is physically unable to continue with the race.

Team managers are to ensure the participants are physically fit and trained for the event, and they are entering this competition at their own risk and responsibility.

Participants are responsible for their own well-being and agree to release the organisers of any responsibility in the event of injury, death, or loss of property incurred during, as a consequence of, or while traveling to and from, the competition.
- The organising committee shall deal with all matters not provided under these rules and its decision shall be final.
- There will be No baggage deposit service provided on site.

2 How can I register?

3 What is the minimum and maximum age to participate in MR25 Marathon Relay 2019?
The minimum age to participate for all categories is 10 years old. There is no maximum age limit; however individuals above the age of 70 will need to prove his/her fitness with completion of a race in Singapore over the past year.

5 How can I make payment?
You can make payment by VISA/Mastercard/AMEX through the online payment portal which you will be directed to after you've duly completed your registration.
6 Do I need to fill up the indemnity form and seek Parental/Guardian consent if I'm below the age of 18 as of 20 July 2019?
Yes, participants below the age of 18 are required to seek parental/guardian consent before signing up for the race. They would be required to submit the signed indemnity form before collecting the team baton on the race day, failing which the Race Organiser reserves the right to refuse the entry of the participant. The indemnity form will be emailed to team manager after the registration closes.
7 How will I know if my registration for MR25 Marathon Relay 2019 is successful?
Participants will receive a confirmation email upon successful registration.
8 Do I get a refund if I choose not to participate after completing my registration?
No. Registration fees are strictly non-refundable.
9 Can I transfer my race entry to someone else?
No. Race entry is strictly non-transferable.
10 Can I make changes to my particulars after completing my registration?
No.
11 Can I change my race category after completing my registration?
Yes, you are able to change your race category by writing an email to us at events@mr25.org.sg.
However, there will be no refunding of the balance for downgrading of race category, and runner will have to pay the balance amount for any upgrading of race category.
12 When is the closing date for registration?
Registration closes on 5 July 2019, or when race slots are filled, whichever earlier.
13 What are the registration procedures?
Register a team name and category.
Make online payment after the registration page.
Complete the team members details at any time before the registration deadline.
Fill up the indemnity form which will be emailed to team manager after the registration deadline.
14 When is the race pack collection?
There is no race pack collection for this event.
15 Will there be a refund made of the race is cancelled due to bad weather?
No refund will be made if the race is cancelled due to bad weather or unforeseen circumstances.
Race Matters
16 How does the marathon relay work?
A team of 6 to 8 members take turns to carry a baton through a 3.1km trail loop fourteen (14) times. Total Distance is 43.4km.
17 How is the total age of all team members calculated?
If you have a team of 6, total age of all your team members is the sum of each of the 6 members’ age. If you have a team of 8, total age of your team members is the sum of each of the 8 members’ age. Age of each individual is calculated by 2019 minus the year of birth.

Through this new and interesting team category concept, we hope to encourage and promote student-teacher’s, parent-child’s, athlete-coach’s, employee-employer’s, etc’s, bonding through running.
18 Is it fair to allow young adults to participate in the masters and veterans team?
Yes, because every team has the flexibility to recruit and form their best team.
19 What is the criteria of a mixed team?
The team must consist of 3 or more females.
20 If 1 or more of my team runners are unable to run on race day due to unforeseen circumstances, are we allowed to race with less than 6 runners?
Yes, however the total number of laps to be completed remains at 14 laps. No substitutions or reserves will be allowed after the registration deadline.
20 Is there a designated baton exchange zone?
Yes, all baton exchanges must be carried out at the designated baton exchange zone, near the zig-zag bridge.
21 What is the cut-off timing?
Race begins at 7:30am and ends at 1:00pm. Your team have 5.5 hours to complete the marathon, after which, you will need to discontinue the race.
